- Bio: Instrumental rock music is experiencing a new peak in England. Codes In The Clouds, the quintet of Morahan, Peeling, Smith, Major and Power from Dartford, Kent have found a firm place in this vast growing post-rock scene.
With their harmonious and blissful sound they weave guitar melodies, liable to explode any minute. If you still can’t imagine intense music without vocals then you will be surprised how easily these boys will let you forget this prejudice. Energetic and charming at once, surprising and unpredictable at all times.
After receiving critical acclaim on both domestic (repeated plays by legendary BBC Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens) and international stations for their first double A-side ‘Distant Street Lights / Fractures’, CITC are set to take North America by storm. With their recordings completed within only five days under the experienced eye of Justin Lockey (Bloc Party/ Yourcodenameis: Milo/Enter Shakari), and a promotional video captured by Californian filmmaker Mike Hedge (Burning Man - As the Dust Settles), their debut album release on Erased Tapes Records is all set to go. In North America ‘Paper Canyon’ will see the light of day on September 15. The band will also release a free download remix album entitled ‘Paper Canyon Recycled’ with contributions from Paul Mullen (The Automatic), who has been a fan of the band since he saw them live in ’07, and other friends later this year.
Rock Sound, one of England’s leading magazines for rock music, counts Codes In The Clouds amongst the new discoveries of the past year and have hailed them as ‘Ones to Watch in 2009’. The birth of this formation didn’t remain unnoticed in the US for long either. Online zine The Silent Ballet crowned CITC the new rising stars of instrumental rock: 'I'm running out of excuses to explain rather lackluster releases from recent powerhouses as Mono, Explosions In The Sky and Do Make Say Think.
