  • Bio: In early 2000, the controversial Brazilian Dancer Maura Baiocchi (her work banned during the years of the military dictatorship) asked Artanker, then drummer of the acid bubblegum group Stratotanker, to compose music for new dance projects by her company Taanteatro. Artanker brought in fellow Stratotanker members Joe Fiorentino and Chris Seeds, recruited Art Lavis from Princess Superstar and rounded things out with Jake Oas and Jon Warren. Artanker Convoy went on to create music for Taanteatro and perform with the company at the Mercosur Theater Festival in Cordoba Argentina as well as at venues in New York City.

In 2002, The Social Registry asked Artanker to release a 12 inch. The Convoy has been releasing records with The Social Registry ever since.

Convoy has composed and recorded soundtracks for animated shorts, including the Sesame Street “Cat and Mouse.” Convoy has contributed music to the soundtrack for the Christopher Walken/Amanda Pete/Sharon Stone film “Five Dollars a Day,” which will reach festivals this fall and the IFC documentary “Vanilla Bicycles” which debus on IFC in September. And, not to leave dance behind, Convoy continues to work with Taanteatro as well as with New York dancer Nicole Wolcott, the artistic director for the red hot downtown dance company Keigwin and Company.
