The Christmas cheer just keep on flowing at the RCRD LBL HQ (as well as copious amounts of eggnog...) and once again Ghostly International have some tricks up their sleeves. They've just made a post over at their RCRD LBL blog denouncing the blandness of most Christmas tunes, and posted a few of their favorite non-traditional ones, namely "Christmas Time is Here" by Cepia and "Rays in the Tallow" by Benoit Pioulard. Run on over the the Ghostly blog to read about these tracks, and download them below. This is the first installment of Christmas song posts from the label, so tune in for more soon...

Whoa! Kudos to RCRD LBL affiliates and Dim Mak signees The Deadly Syndrome for bagging the L.A. Weekly's #1 Local album of 2007 for their debut The Ortolan. We guess the editors at the newspaper were as addicted to the Syndrome's bouncy indie pop jams as we were all this year. Good call Dim Mak and congratulations guys! For more info on The Deadly Syndrome, check out their RCRD LBL page and download their song "Wolves in the Garden" below.

DJ Ayres, one-third of Brooklyn DJ mega-crew the Rub, is kind of a big deal. Since starting the Rub at Southpaw in 2002, he's traveled all over the world, gained mad respect for his remixes and edits, and fulfilled one of his goals--to create a dance music scene devoid of irony and fake hipsterdom. Today the guys over at the Turntable Lab RCRD LBL blog have posted a brief interview with DJ Ayres, chronicling his favorite moments and trends of 2007. Be prepared to unlock the secrets of UGK featuring Outkast, Van Morrison and, er, Beyoncé's "tang"...

Born Ruffians first appeared on our radars when they simultaneously a) covered the Grizzly Bear song "Knife" and b) released "This Sentence will Ruin/Save Your Life" possibly the hottest freak-folk song of 2006. Well, since then the Canadian trio have signed to RCRD LBL-affiliates Warp, and are slated to release their first album Red, Yellow and Blue on February 26th, 2008. It's bound to be the jam, but just to convince you 100% we're offering the Ruffians' new song "Hummingbird" up for download. Take it in and cherish it.

The Presets are finally back! You might remember the Australian duo of Kimberly Moyles (a.k.a. K.I.M.) and Julian Hamilton from releasing the completely crazy Beams and its consequent single "Are You the One?" in 2005. After the kind of carnage that song perpetrated in clubs worldwide, we can't wait to see the kind of reaction their new single is going to get, which coincidentally is out today on Modular. It's called "My People", and to celebrate its release we're giving away an awesome DIM remix of the track. It's a real electrobanger, full of distorted bass lines and all that good stuff. Download it below and check out the Modular RCRD LBL post for more info.
