Well, this is pretty awesome. Given the task of remixing a Philip Glass song for the upcoming Rework: Philip Glass Remixed collection to celebrate the composer's 75th birthday, Beck instead took 20 of the minimalist master's compositions and made himself a 20-minute suite that beautifully mashes them together into something new and quite beautiful. "NYC 73-78" is a sound experiment, sure, but it's also Beck tweaking and paying tribute to Glass' distinct style in a majorly creative way. Check it out over at NPR, and grab the album October 23.
