Chicago group California Wives self-released a debut EP, Affair, last year, garnering much acclaim and eventually landing them a deal with Vagrant Records. Now, the band will offer its debut album, a sparkling indie rock dispatch called Art History, on September 4. “Purple” is a glimmering, airy pop number that provides an apt introduction to the group.
