Of course, The Avalanches release the first demo for their first album since 2000's beloved Since I Left You and it's based around a poem from my spirit animal David Berman of The Silver Jews. Still demo quality, the group sanctioned this as their first original song in a decade and you can faintly hear their playful, music-box production lingering behind Berman's booming voice. "I guess in a way I longed to be rad," he says. "When I was with her it felt wrong to be sad." A mission statement? A good turn of phrase? The intro to another classic?
