Yes, I'm one of those dudes. I walked around despondent for like a month after Elliott Smith died and I still get all misty-eyed and crazy when I think about the sad beauty of his songs. Kill Rock Stars, his original home, feels the same way. In celebration of what would have been Smith's 43rd birthday, the label is selling his discography for a reasonable $49. More interesting to the super fans, though, is this alternate version of "Alameda." The chords, production and feel remain pretty much the same, but the lyrics aren't quite set in stone for what would become an Either/Or standout.
