PREMIERE: Kontravoid - Silent Visions
Kontravoid is the solo project of one Cam Findlay, he of Crystal Castles (erstwhile live drummer) and Parallels fame and, after “Silent Visions,” a newly minted overlord of a forgotten sewer society of musical miscreants and monsters. The track is 'goth' in the best way: stirring, frightening, pounding, intoxicating. Like navigating through middle school in the late ‘80s as both puberty and punk came to a head. It’s also the kind of analog dark pop that was popular at the time (in dank basements if not quite on the global scale it deserved) though Findlay crystallizes the demons in a way most bands then never did, by balancing true melodies with true terror.
