PREMIERE: Chromeo - When The Night Falls (Mackintosh Braun Remix)
Chromeo's icy dance jammer "When The Night Falls" is so poppy that it's ripe for remixes in every possible style. Portland duo Mackintosh Braun do it right, though, bringing out the original's gauzy bed and ear-warming melody as bass skitters freely and sets up a massive chorus. I feel like this could have been a Top 10 single in 1986, yet the fact that it works so well in 2012 might just mean that pitch-perfect synth-pop has finally become a timeless form.
