Gat damn, Maya Jane Coles is a beast. A beautiful beast, but a beast nonetheless. Hailing from sunny East London and adorned with a breastplate owl tattoo that would make the gods weep, this small-framed DJ and producer makes massive house music. “Not Listening,” off of her DJ-Kicks comp, goes so deep it almost sounds little jungle-y to me, what with the dead man walking whispers and almost imperceptible tilt towards Amen breaks.
