Denver indie-pop group Tennis released their first album, Cape Dory, in early 2011. It was, yes, a narrative-based collection of songs about a sailing trip. In many ways, the band’s recent follow-up, Young & Old, which was produced by Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney, is the first album from Tennis that was intended to have an audience. “Origins" is a bounding indie number, pairing dulcet instrumentation and vocals with an underlying sense of grit in the production. That grit keeps the buoyant track from floating away, imbuing the track with a grounding sense of weight.
