Do soon-to-be-defunct hi-fi systems have existential crises? Do old television sets have to auto-ejaculate sixteen times a day in order to forget the past? Do electric blankets ever just go missing off the face of the Earth, never to be seen again? I never heard of any of these things happening. So why is everyone going around right now making electricity sound like it's upset? Spector's "Ryan Gosling Remix" of Florence And the Machine's "No Light No Light" is one that collapses forlornly into this bracket, a chaotic, adrenalized pop song that sounds like weather systems going haywire above a hopeless town. If, like me, you're the sort of person who often doubts the purpose of your own existence, it's like honey for the soul.
