In the '80s, most pop songs either sounded like child birthday parties or orgy soundtracks. "99 Red Balloons" – child birthday party. "Drive" by The Cars – orgy. It's strange to find a song that sits comfortably on either side of that dichotomy, but this remix of War Of Words' "Battleground" by La Roux's Elly Jackson does it with a bouncy castle keyboard rhythm dirtied by vocals about love being a battlefield. The original arrives the same day as another single, "Panic", which comes backed with a remix by La Roux's other half, Ben Langmaid. Physical is out now, while the digital release follows on January 15.
