In some ways, the difference between The Antlers and The xx is the difference between New York City and London. Both leading indie acts of the last couple years, The Antlers, the more brutally raw band of the two, just celebrated their recent album Burst Apart with an odds-and-ends victory lap entitled (together). One of its highlights is a cover of The xx's impeccably cold "VCR" that adds heft to the drums and replaces glacial soundscapes with wigged-out experimentation.
