We’re going to go out on a limb and say you’ve never really understood why artists remix their own tracks. Just do it that way the first time and get on with it, right? Yeah, that’s what we thought too, until we listened to the murky, electro-rock drone of Anders Trentemøller’s “Neverglade” redo. Now, we’re dabbling in revisionist thinking. Because this doesn’t sound like a redo at all—it sounds grandiose and orchestral and original, swept in strings, hypno-vocals, grinding bass and a barely-there drum tap. What was that song that played when Brad Pitt took his hands off the wheel in Fight Club and screamed at Ed Norton to just let go? Was it this? It should have been. This stuff’s great enough for us to buy the rest of the remix album, helpfully titled Reworked/Remixed, and out now.
