DOWNLOAD: Gabriel Bruce - El Musgo

Despair's a funny, contagious thing. Gabriel Bruce is on the cusp of releasing his debut single as a solo artist after his stint as the face of Loverman, but instead of sounding liberated by his secession, he's busy spreading the sickness of solitude. "El Musgo" – Spanish for "the moss" – sounds made for dark and private ceremonies, his growl that of a sad man who's drunk too much for his body but not enough for his soul. This isn't on that debut single – released through Off Modern December 5 – but the A-side is just as darkly invasive and the B-side is called "No Love Lost". From Loverman to "No Love Lost" in the space of two years – if the despair of "El Musgo" wasn't as weirdly comforting, you'd worry for poor Gabriel.
