So at first I was kind of a bit, "Yeah, this is OK, but it sort of sounds like a car advert that's trying too hard" about The Brandt Brauer Frick Ensemble, but then the emptiness of what they do started itching at me and I was like, "Aaaah, OK! It's basically Arthur Russell if he was a) a German person, b) alive, c) now?" It was a rhetorical question, so I answered it myself in the affirmative, copped this collaboration with Emika for you and sat back and started wondering if this is classical music mapped onto a techno grid or vice versa. Turns out the answer to that question is "Who really cares?", which was kind of a slap in the mouth, but then The BBFE's album Mr Machine is out now through K7, so who am I to complain?
