Guess what I'm gonna do now? I'm gonna tell you what "indie" is! It's been a while, huh? Anyway, the most recent time I realized what indie is was when I saw that Summer Camp's Elizabeth Sankey had been watching Dawson's Creek all day. I used to like Dawson's Creek when I was a kid, because I always wanted to fuck Joey, while all my friends wanted to fuck Jen. It was then that I first realized that I might be "indie" – a notion confirmed to me when, a few years later, I developed a well-publicized crush on Rachel Bilson, female star of The OC. These feelings deep inside me spoke to my role as the eternal outsider, someone who prefers brunettes to blondes, supporting cast members to lead stars. It is through years of training in the field of "indie" that I can recognize it in this Summer Camp remix of The Drums' "How It Ended." It's a slightly maudlin, pretty bashful and totally DTF cut of synth-indie that makes me wanna tear my heart out and scream "SUMMMEEEEERRRR!" (as in both the season AND Rachel's character in The OC) in the rain at the top of a hill somewhere. Some people are just born with tragedy in their blood.
