Rapper/producer Quelle Chris is on a lot more radars after his work on Danny Brown's mixtape-of-the-year contender XXX, and now the two are getting together to cause more trouble on Chris' solo debut. This cut, where the two Detroit MCs go head to head with Long Island rapper Roc Marciano, is a wacky, hyper-lyrical split of barroom blues, lethargic tempo and just enough spliced cartoon samples that I thought of Madvillain. Marciano, whose 2010 Marcberg LP was a favorite that had me pining for 1995, does his New York thing over the beat, spitting rough and tough with a gravelly voice and vivid imagery. Chris' debut, Shotgun & Sleek Rifle, is out November 15 on Fat Beats.
