A minute in to Mickey Moonlight’s redux of jerky tribal weirdos Django Django’s “Waveforms” and you may think he’s going to spend the entire track fiddling with Phantom of the Opera synths, far-distant cop alarms, and arrhythmic ticks. But wait thirty seconds more and it explodes into a ravey tropical banger crawling with froggy bass burps and pogo dance turns. By the end, Django Django’s been relegated to a thin and pretty corner from which their vocals sound far more ominous than they actually recorded them, though just as excellent.
