The last time I saw James Ferraro, he stood deadpan over a sea of electronics wearing a Michael Jackson "Thriller" jacket and manipulating samples from who-knows-where (AM rock? Liquidation commercials?) into an enthralling mess. Far Side Virtual, his album coming November 14 on Hippos In Tanks, takes a similar approach towards a modern, mobile-obsessed life. "Adventures In Green Foot Printing" isn't so much pure noise as spliced dirty samples mixed with the sort of piano you hear while waiting for an airplane to take off.
