PREMIERE: Rob Crow - Scalped

All of my boy-girl coming of age memories involve Rob Crow, frontman of heartbreaking, wonderful, college-rock-band-I-will-always-love, Pinback. Because it was his group that made the anthems that happened to play during landmark moments. It was “Loro” that emanated from my first love’s Toyota as we sped the night away around the arboretum, singing and joking about things we’ll never remember since. Later, it was “Good To Sea You” which blared in my iPod buds on a family trip to Paris, as I skulked sullenly from Monet to Monet, tortured over the guy who came after him. So now that Rob’s got a new solo effort, He Thinks He’s People out October 18, I guess I need to be young, smitten and upset again? Good thing listening to his wind-bitten single “Scalped” makes that a cakewalk.
