Ghost Town DJ's' 1996 single "My Boo" has reemerged as a touchstone with a new generation of artists filtering their own styles through the original's stay-away-from-my-man Miami bass explosions. Our favorite is by Friends -- who uses its cover as a b-side on a new single with the similarly-themed "I'm His Girl." A live set mainstay, Friends preserves the tempo you know with a shaky beat, sassy vocals and menacing synth chunks that sound like keyboards being pummeled with gong mallets.
