PREMIERE: Chris Dave & Stimulus - U Don't Want It
Chris Dave is infamous for his superb drumming skills (ask Mos Def and Robert Glasper) while Stimulus has made a name for himself as a DJ/rapper, and on September 12th the two musicians will release their first collaborative mix tape 3rd 1st Impression. The soulful compilation—produced entirely by Dave, with rhymes by Stimulus—features artists such as Bilal, Renee Neufvill and Casey Benjamin. On “U Don’t Want It,” Stimulus has a few stern words for artists who’ve lost their knack for originality, over a hi-hat heavy loop from Dave, with simple background vocals that gives it all a real throwback feel.
