You know what's appealing about Planningtorock? That she's so stern and strong, and yet weak simultaneously. Her voice is one of those commanding ones that girls have—not deep, exactly, but with an inflection that suggest the world is her dog and she's speaking "heel". But then the words don't say that—they say: "We break too easily." Over and over again, like a mantra, or a eulogy. If there was anyone who was gonna be empathetic to Planningtorock's weird fragility, it was Telepathe. The Brooklyn duo have made their name firing together emotionally ambiguous fragments such as those that make up this remix of "The Breaks", a re-rendering at once pathetic and towering. PTR—real name Janine Rostron—tours Europe and the UK later this year. You should go see her for sure.
