PREMIERE: Elba - From A Sinking Ship

I know Seattle can feel like Elba when you’re on the East Coast, but it is not actually just the place grunge has been left to die. Native son Elba is a big band with the sound to match, putting out fleshy pop with vocals that knock it into a different gear than standard indie—nothing forceful, just distinct in their own way. “From A Sinking Ship” sees them flirting with a guitar that shifts genres seamlessly, almost post-punk at times as it carries the back-half of the track. With a devoted local following in a hometown that can afford to be choosy, the group’s third album seems to signal the end of exile. Grab the self-titled release September 22.
