Otis Heat, a bluesy three-piece from Portland, has one of the more wild origin stories we've heard in a minute. While traveling in separate cars, two of the three (soon-to-be) bandmates suffered a near-fatal crash with one another and were helped out by a mysterious drifter that they think was named, yes, Otis Heat. Basically, we have a band as dedication to a mysterious Pacific Northwest character that no one is sure exists in the first place. Here's "Shame" from the group's debut LP Yoon. It's a laid-back rock number -- part Black Keys and part woozy funk that could care less about scoring underground points.
