There's something comforting about pop punk, and not just because it makes light of growing old and love and other serious shit with catchy drums and cocksure singers. It doesn't try to dress itself up as something fancy, and bravo to Banquets for proving that can still mean possessing skill. The Jersey City band has earned itself quite the rabid following at home, and the quick wit and punchy guitar of "Fireplug" seems to promise more of the same with the release of its debut full-length next month.
