Moby has made a long career out of infusing cold electronics with true emotion. He returns to that comfort zone with an extended edit of "The Broken Places" -- a beautiful ambient track that opens his recent Destroyed LP. Perfect for either the dead of night or deep sea exploration, Moby creates a melancholy haze where pure tones reflect and bounce off one-another as the composition swells. Eventually, the drums also succumb to this sonic mirroring effect and a track that started with space to spare becomes large and tangled without losing its emotional center.
