"Bricks" is a coming together of passions for Philadelphia producer Starkey and his MC friend Curly Castro. Pulled from the former's new sci-fi inspired EP, Space Traitor Vol. 2, Castro's lyrics weave together a fantastical narrative in which Peter Parker, Wolverine, Leo di Caprio, Lex Luther and the guys from Star Wars are thrown together to suffer at the hands of the titular Bricks, a superhero who, if I'm hearing this right, can blow shit up with his eyes. Starkey's productions have always been pretty filmic, and even when reworked by Nottingham, England production duo The Elementz, this track makes all the right synaesthetic moves; snares reaching out of the mix to poke you in your eyes and synths tickling just behind the brain. It's a cinematic track, and it's out now through Civil Music.
