Photek's been in the game a long time—18 years, or thereabouts. When a man's been making people dance (and think—don't forget the thinking) for that long, he earns himself a license to look around and see what he feels like adding to himself. The result of those explorations of the new have thus far resulted in two EPs: February's Avalanche, and now Aviator, which "Cecconi" is pulled from. The track revels in that same genrelessness that marks out the best of today's young(er) producers: its techno chords crashing at dubstep speed while the threat of ambient, alien noises is harnessed by that tunnel-vision which drum n' bass—the sound Photek's been majoring in for most of his adult life—has always seemed to survey the landscape through. Aviator's out June 13 through the LA-based producer's own label, Photek Productions.
