The Rosebuds matches maturity with grace. The group's core duo of Ivan Howard and Kelly Crisp had their marriage dissolve after the band's last record, 2008's Life Like, and its musical future remained in limbo during subsequent years as Crisp moved from Raleigh to Brooklyn. Think of "Woods" as a small piece of couples therapy. It's a mature conception of indie rock that uses weathered history to age beautifully.
