PREMIERE: Led Er Est – Lonesome xoxo
Led Er Est's deliciously melancholy "Lonesome xoxo" (our favorite downer lyrical gem here is “words they float around like satellites of sorrow”), is a woozy synth-driven track, recalling early Human League and clocking in at less than three minutes. The song accomplishes quite a lot in that short time, though, namely, as the title suggests, personifying all the torture of a relationship gone astray. The band almost manage to offer some kind of glimmering hope that defies all the darkness in the chorus: “It’s a happening place” they declare, but then again, “It’s over.” The song is from their May EP, out today from Captured Tracks.
