PREMIERE: Big Spider's Back - Dead Channel

As Big Spider's Back, Yair Rubinstein's music is notable for bridging two ostensibly unrelated, but in fact somewhat similar, styles: dream pop and hip-hop-influenced electronic music. On "Dead Channel," you can hear drops of colorfully marbled synth notes plinking over a slow crawl of drum claps before what is likely Rubinstein's voice emitting a droning chant of "Say never," Panda Bear-style, over his opalescent musical backdrop. At a brief running time, the flowering of sound in "Dead Channel" is impressive, and is presumably only a slice of what will be a much larger audio pie. To find out what the rest of it sounds like, make sure to check out his new LP, Memory Man, out in June on Circle Into Square.
