PREMIERE: Alex Winston - Locomotive (Beach Fossils Remix)
Alex Winston’s voice is like some alien meeting place of Kate Bush and Buffy Sainte-Marie, though comparisons do a disservice to the wonderful strangeness of the Brooklyn-by-way-of-Michigan singer’s vocal chops. Fellow Brooklynites Beach Fossils’ remix of “Locomotive,” a song from the excellent Sister Wife EP, pares down the frantic feel of the original in favor off a slower groove that transforms Winston's dismissive refrain—“I wish I care about the things you care about but I don’t”—into a profound proclamation of sadness.
