DOWNLOAD: Other Lives – For 12

“For 12” by Other Lives starts with a Tennessee Three chugging rhythm before gradually growing into a lush orchestral score, as huge and expansive as Monument Valley. The Oklahoma five-piece really outdid themselves on their second full-length album, Tamer Animals, out May 10 from tbd. They spent 14 months recording the album in their studio in Stillwater, tweaking arrangements, perfecting their ghostly harmonies, and creating a haunting blend of folk and chamber pop (the grandiose string section on "For 12" is buffered by multi-tracked acoustic guitars, recorded so close, you can here fingers moving across the strings). The music sounds like it took over the lives of the people performing it.
