Things that get finer with age: wine, Rob Lowe, emo veterans that didn't let their new act interfere with actual living. I suppose 'new' is relative, given the latest album from Maritime is the band's fourth, but it's the reincarnation for two former Promise Ring members of a life that works with music, not in spite of it. "Annihilation Eyes" is a slice of pop from the Milwaukee rockers, who continuing with the family theme shifted to former Promise Ring manager's label Dangerbird on this release. It is patient and well-practiced indie, whether the mark of a long run in the business or wives and kids irrelevant. It works, and the rest can be found on Human Hearts, which came out on Tuesday.
