Portland's Parenthetical Girls are nothing if not fastidious. Zac Pennington, master crafter and charming frontman of the one time duo and current quartet, has truly come into his own. While he claims to possess little musicianship, a fact which the drum machines and 80s synth that fill the band's records would seem to confirm, he is, in fact, a skilled singer and showman, a touch of Colin Meloy in his voice but swinging much more the way of Patrick Wolf. "The Pornographer" is brooding at times, though its popish tendencies would be hard to deny, and it is nicely in keeping with the rest of the Privilege series of which it forms part III of V.
