Everyone should wake up to music in the mornings. Whether it's the bright-new-day optimism of something like Jens Lekman's "Maple Leaves" (my choice), or you need something stronger like Burzum's "Dunkelheit" (my flatmate's choice) to pull you out of your pit, music tends to sound best when you've only recently resumed consciousness. It's into such states that Thomas Tantrum throw themselves with "Sleep", a song that's more about waking up than falling down. The original's a quietly forceful rush of cutesy FM melodies, and this remix courtesy of RAC pushes things to their logical conclusion: the international remix collective turning guitar rattle into synth plink and clearing the way for the day ahead with the sweep of drum machines. That original arrives as a download on March 27.
