Unlike many of my colleagues here at RCRD LBL, I am not heading down to Austin this week for the South By Southwest Festival. And I must admit that I'm jealous, seeing as how it's going to be in the 80s all week while I'm stuck in much chillier climes. For them, and all the rest of you lounging in warm weather this week, here's a track that's right up your alley. L.A. beat-nik Shlohmo is skirting drinking age, and yet he already has a highly anticipated album due this May. The title track off the recently released Places EP is a sweltering and sultry instrumental that is perfect for the sun-soaked landscape of Austin this week, where he will be playing multiple dates. With its crisp claps and drippy effects, this is the kind of song you can bump when it's just too hot to move, or alternately, when you're just feeling too lazy to walk out into the cold.
