There was a while there when Starfucker was contemplating a name change, even prompting fans to enter a contest to rechristen them. Fortunately, they have instead settled into their own skin, and as most can attest who have successfully conquered puberty, amen. Reptilians, the new LP out March 8 on Polyvinyl, is a more mature, fuller-sounding album than 2009's Jupiter. "Death As A Fetish" hits on the main theme lyrically, though the weighty subject doesn't seem to interfere with the dance-friendly indie-electro numbers we've come to expect from the group. Reminiscent of Beck in some places and light on its feet, the Portland boys are back with a (fucking) bang.
