On the original version of "Clamor," experimental instrumentalists Balmorhea vault a whirling piano, rumbling drums, and a swaying string section into the air, the song more or less a recording of the rising and the falling and the crash. On his remix of "Clamor," Prefuse 73 takes the footage, indiscriminately chops it up, and then tries to put the whole thing back together as it was before. Since it was torn apart, you can hear the seams, in the form of little bleeps and skroinks and fades. And Prefuse has added some extra drums here and there, duplicated some spots, and layered some sections on top of each other. But he also retained the song's sweep, possibly creating a classical music track for the hip-hop set. Grab some chardonnay and some plastic cups and check out the "Candor/Clamor" single, as well as Balmorhea's 2010 album Constellations, both of which are out now on Western Vinyl.
