Trying to keep up with Simian Mobile Disco's "Fugu" is somewhat of a fool's errand. Each specific sound is so well-suited to the part it's layered with that if you listen just a bit too closely, you will get lost in the spider-spun intricacies of the whole thing—no hyperbole, I swear I was walking around inside my own strobe-lit head for a minute there. The track comes off of their album Delicacies (which we have long celebrated at RCRD LBL, especially the single, "Aspic") and the obvious precision of every careful beat or effect on "Fugu" feels like it could only be on a record of that name. But to get the full effects of these beguiling beats, check them out during Hard Weekend—March 11 at Fox Theater in Oakland, March 12 at Club Nokia in LA and March 19 at NYC's Terminal 5.
