My high school days were comprised of categorizing my friends by Flags—citizens of the world fearlessly followed Justin Sane and his Anti-Flag compatriots to the promises of bettering everyone all through punk rock; My more ferocious friends were cracking skulls and taking names whether the soundtrack was sung by Keith Morris or Henry Rollins to Black Flag; The rest of us were nerding out to this thing from London that felt more shocking than both of those bands—the-artier-than-punk output of Wire on their album Pink Flag. Over 30 years later, they're still around to show the kids what's up. "Two Minutes" is fleshier than the meat of that first album, but their spirit of authoritative punk is imbued throughout (although, I might have to disagree with the lyric, "Coffee is not a replacement for food or happiness").
