PREMIERE: Wires Under Tension - Bronx Science
"Bronx Science" is an ode to that other B-named borough so often lost to the music world's boner for Brooklyn. Wires Under Tension has graciously provided us not only with a refreshing change of location but an innovative new approach to sound. Remixing "Wood, Metal, Bone" off Light Science, their full length out February 8 on Western Vinyl, the duo partnered with Ableton software to create a wildly experimental take on the track. Incorporating violin loops, fractured piano and percussion and all manner of synth, the new version is equal parts Steve Miller Band, The Books and Antonio Vivaldi—like a little hip-hop symphony sans the cash, cars and hos.
