PREMIERE: Sea Of Bees - Wizbot (Conquering Animal Sound Remix)
To us, the best freak folk comes from either side of the genre's spectrum. It’s either birthed in the dirt by inner-wildebeest-invoking shamans, or it envelops us from the ether through an alien headspace which transcends all forms. This Conquering Animal Sound refit of Sea of Bees’ “Wizbot” is the latter: a swirling, celestial soup, unidentifiable by instrument, sex, or even genus. Of course, it does have instruments (glockenspiel, cold synths) and origins (Sacramento’s Julie Ann Bee), but we prefer to think of Sea of Bees, and her new album, Songs For The Ravens, as a gift from above.
