PREMIERE: Saint Etienne - No Cure For The Common Christmas
Saint Etienne never sounded too coarse or crass or brash, so for them the process of getting musically "older" seems to have been relatively easy to handle. As such it'll be no surprise to regular listeners that Sarah Cracknell still sounds like the sort of sophisticated, emotionally-developed woman who remains out of reach to all but the best men, though "No Cure For The Common Christmas" has a driving, synthpop-ish urgency to it that'd jolt even Pavarotti from his festive fodder slumber. And that guy's dead. This track's taken from A Glimpse Of Stocking, out now through Foreign Office.
