The last time we featured a remix of The Drums' "Me And The Moon", we were coaxed into the sleepy security by the layers of lullaby Twin Shadow laid over the track. Not this time. While the RCRD LBL-venerated Matthew Dear has fashioned this more into an ethereal trip, maintaining the lovey-longing message, there is still something a bit daunting about it. Dear swamps his breakdown of the song with an undercurrent that is reminiscent of the sort of nightmarish, but still sweet-dreamlike qualities that I thought for a long time only David Lynch was able to conjure. Both Dear and The Drums have this capacity for invoking these quintessential '80s film soundtrack qualities—The Drums got the teen comedy yearning on lock—and the conflation feels like something out of a missing episode of Twin Peaks. Perfect.
