Our grandpa is Australian. He smokes like a chimney, drinks like a fish, and wears shorts year round. He pulls us aside at family events to deliver gruff recriminations (when he was our age, he’d spend holidays with his buddies adrift on Bondi surf, clad in a tuxedo).
