To explain Mount Kimbie's music in terms of genre or place is to kind of miss the point—the London-based duo, sprung from the city's dubstep nexus, are capable of moments that render such mundane details irrelevant (their debut album Crooks & Lovers, out recently through Scuba's Hot Flush label, holds many of these). This live recording of "Ruby", though, really does sound like it made a lot of sense reaching up to the high ceilings of Berlin's infamous Berghain nightspot: the wordless cries of London dances locked into Teutonic techno's deathless precision.
